Credit Unions that strongly believe in the power of political fundraising and advocacy can choose to be distinguished among their peers through participation in the Gold Star Program. An easy way to achieve recognition is through the Lapel Pin program, the single most important step one can take to preserving the credit union movement.
A credit union becomes a Gold Star Credit Union when it achieves 100% participation in the Lapel Pin program as well as reaching 100% of the State PAC (MCULAF) goals – in many cases these two successes will be synonymous. For the credit union to achieve 100% participation, the following must all make a contribution to the Lapel Pin Program:
- CEO
- Senior Staff
- Any staff who report directly to the CEO
- All members of the Board of Directors
- All members of the Supervisory Committee
- All members of the Credit Committee (where applicable)
Lapel Pins range from $25 for the Congressional Club to $500 for the Chairman’s Club. Contribution forms as well as the ability to contribute online can be found at: http://www.mcul.org/Make_A_Contribution_Online_568.html.
Credit Unions have been recognized with Forum Appreciation Awards in the past for meeting/exceeding their fundraising goals. Credit unions are also recognized as a Gold Star Credit Union by achieving 100% of their State goal and 100% participation in the Lapel Pin Program.
