Consumer Financial Education Library

The MCUL Consumer Financial Education Library consists of resources that can be used to provide trustworthy financial education information to members and community members.  Find resources for adults, teens, youth, and  to help with classroom presentations

Resources for Adults and all ages: 

CUNA PFI - Personal Finance Initiative: A comprehensive collection of resources for youth, adults and the underserved.  Includes sections on research and policy; networks and dialogs; and best practices for financial education. 

NCUA Financial Education: Includes a financial education library; CU savings insurance information; financial education links; and a section of speeches, statements, photos and press releases. 

Credit Unions Rock: A variety of information on financial topics for the whole family from youth to adult.

My Money.gov: The US government's website dedicated to teaching all Americans the basics about financial education. 

Federal Reserve Financial Education: "In today's complex financial markets, financial education is central to helping consumers make better decisions for themselves and their families"  - Ben S. Bernanke

Smart About Money: The National Endowment for Financial Education's (NEFE) site containing financial education about financial planning, credit & debt, savings, investing, and retirement. 

eXtension Personal Finance: eXtension is a partnership of 74 universities in the United States that provides information to help people improve their lives. 

Accel: Accel is a proactive financial counseling and education program designed to help all credit union members reach their financial goals.  Their information and audio library contains consumer financial information for adults and youth.

Consumer Jungle: A non-profit organization dedicated to providing young adults with the life skills that they need to become responsible, informed consumers. 

Cash Course: National Endowment for Financial Education's (NEFE) website designed specifically to help college age students with financial management information. 

College Is Possible: American Council of Education's site motiviating middle and high school students from underserved communities to seek a college education. 

College.gov: A site designed by and for students featuring information about why to go, how to go, and how to pay for college.

Resources for Classroom Presentations:

Reporting your classroom presentations to the NYIB helps to demonstrate the good works of credit union classroom educators!

MCUL's Financial Literacy-in-a-box: A series of classroom presentations that have been developed and utilized by Michigan credit union classroom educators.  These are free, downloadable ready to go classroom presentations for all ages.

National Youth Involvement Board: Information and resources for classroom presentations.

NEFE's High School Financial Planning Program:Everything you need to assist or teach this complete financial education course from the National Endowment for Financial Education. 

National Council on Economic Education: A comprehensive site containing financial education information for students and teachers including:  Financing Your Future for high school students;  Vitural Economics for K-12;  EconEdLink with links to over 568 free classroom lessons; The Mint for pre-teens and teens; and much more.

Jump$tart Coalition: Contains a clearing house and a current listing of financial education resources available as well as research, best practices and standards. 

Practical Money Skills for Life: Free lesson plans for all ages. 

Money & Stuff: Lesson plans and fun activities for kids, teens, and adults from Ohio's credit unions.
