HR and Trainers' Conference: Going Beyond Lectures

Ellen Davis

Slated for Oct. 15-16 at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, the 2008 MCUL HR and Trainers’ Conference will provide attendees with hands-on projects and a chance to work with other participants.

The conference is geared toward credit union human resources staff and training professionals. An all new agenda format provides longer, more in-depth sessions offering time to fully explore each subject area, as well as in-class projects and interaction between peers – all in the exciting atmosphere of Soaring Eagle Resort.

Speakers on the agenda include Jason Boles, founder of Jason Boles consulting; Penny Giles, CEO of Common Sense Consulting; Jessica Strasser, managing consultant of the HRValue Group Michigan franchise; Mitzi Taylor, owner and president of Not So Basic Training; and Beth Troost, MCUL financial education coordinator.

The conference will cover topics including compensation and pay systems, elements of ethical behavior, attracting and retaining talent and more. A bonus breakout session will also be hosted by Troost on creating a financial literacy program for credit union employees, which will help staff members improve their money management skills and expand their ability to help members.

“Last year was my first time attending this event,” said Ellen Davis, HR officer for Gerber FCU (MO). “All of the information was great. The trainers were upbeat, knowledgeable about the topic they were discussing and weren’t just trying to sell you their product.”
“I’m going back this year, because I’m really excited about the topics, the trainers and the opportunity to network with other HR and training professionals.”

Register by September 23 to receive the discounted registration rate of $310 per person. After this date, registration is $360 per person. Online registration is available at MCUL keyword: 2008HRTC.
